If i were to lose that, I'd go bankrupt in a turn or so after declaring war.
War with Britain looks extremely undesirable as an option, as Britain is an ally and currently contributes almost 40,000 gold per turn on trade. What's the fastest way to earn prestige? Is it possible to lower the prestige of an opponent, or is that value constant no matter what happens? France used to be second place in prestige, but I didn't notice his prestige going down while I blitzed through his Europe regions and then kicked him out of the game (I'm working on killing off the newly-founded Quebec now). Does military prestige include the size of your armies and navies? Or is it purely just the military techs and land/naval victories?
Is prestige continuously generated by tech research and buildings (high level industries and ports)? Or does it only get added once, when the structure is built or invaded/the tech is researched? So there's probably some mechanic with prestige that I don't know about, and would like to ask if anyone here does: While I was busy invading and expanding, Britain had raced up the tech ladder and taken over the 13 Colonies, but I don't understand how he could have so much more prestige than me. Thing is, I own more than forty regions (I own all of india and persia, with all the french holdings in europe and majority of the Caribbean), while the UK has less than half of that. He's got 2,500, I have 1,900, and constantly wrestling for second place with the Ottomans (they have 1,870 now). Playing a UP campaign on VH/VH with a prestige victory condition, and I'm down to less than 15 years remaining, with Britain the only one with prestige higher than me. Does anyone have any idea exactly how prestige works in the campaign?
